Mahua Moitra Marries PinakiMisra In Berlin WearingADreamy Varanasi Brocade Saree
Mahua Moitra, an outspoken legislator and TMC MP, married fellow MP and senior attorney Pinaki Misra in a small, private ceremony in Berlin. The couple chose to forgo publicity and fuss in favor of a modest but exquisite event, where the bride’s saree was the focal point due to its exquisite craftsmanship and cultural significance.
Mahua Moitra wore a custom Parigul saree, which was made with a timeless elegance in mind. It was a soft, pale pink Varanasi brocade woven with silk and genuine zari. The exquisite jaal of flowers in the weave was accentuated by rani pink meenakari embroidery, which gave the understated base more depth and color. Each pattern was hand woven utilizing the intricate Kadwa technique, creating a jangla-style pattern with no loose threads visible at the back- a true mark of artisanal precision.
The Gulshera blouse in complementary pink satin silk was worn with the saree to create a bridal ensemble that was both sophisticated and deeply steeped in textile heritage. Rich in history but without extravagance, this ensemble encapsulated Moitra’s distinctive fusion of astute intelligence and understated splendor.
The groom, Pinaki Misra, created a cohesive and contemporary take on men’s wedding attire by donning a bespoke quilted bundi jacket made of handwoven silk in a pale pink hue. The couple’s attire, which were provided by Raw Mango, embraced a modern style while expressing a mutual appreciation for Indian craftsmanship.
According to reports, the ceremony was held on May 30. However, Moitra has chosen to keep the event private and has not made any public statements. Her heated speeches in Parliament and her previous successful financial career with JP Morgan have made her well-known. Moitra’s private life has hardly been in the news in London or New York. Lars Brorson, a Danish investor, was her former spouse.
